Jason LaTorre


Jason LaTorre is Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner at the Consulate General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He leads an expanding team of professional Trade Commissioners who have been recognized for their outstanding client service and results for Canadian clients.

Prior to his current assignment, Mr. LaTorre worked in the Policy Development Division at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. As one of the lead advisors and drafters for Canada’s Global Commerce Strategy (GCS), he played a key role in developing the new strategy and in securing significant funding from Canada’s Treasury Board to implement it.

During his career, Mr. LaTorre has also been assigned to the Canadian High Commission in Singapore (2003-2006), the Southeast Asia Division (2002-2003), and the Trade and Economic Policy Bureau (2000-2002).

Mr. LaTorre has received recognition for the contributions he has made during his assignments. His awards include the Professional Association of Foreign Service Officer Award (2009), the Ministerial Citation for International Commerce (2007), and a Departmental Instant Recognition Award (2005).

Mr. LaTorre has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria and a Masters in International Affairs from Carleton University. He is married and has two daughters, who bring joy to his life everyday.
